Timeline
2017
Ben, Wesley’s family, and the Clark family meet in a row home on a weekly basis, laying the foundation of King’s Church.
2018
Pastors Ben Palka and Wesley Welch plant King’s Church in Washington, DC, meeting in living rooms before moving to a hotel conference room.
2019
King’s Church moved to a local church's basement, followed by a conference room at the Spy Museum, and eventually Basis DC, a charter school downtown.
2020
In the height of the COVID-19 pandemic, King’s Church was the only church meeting in-person in the city. We saw an increase in the congregation from 40 to 100.
2023
King’s Church’s tenure at Basis showed rapid and exponential growth. Quickly outgrowing the cafeteria, King’s Church moved to Penn Social with about 200 members.
2025
With a current member population of over 500, King’s Church is constantly innovating seating designs, but there is little room for growth.
